Frequently Asked Questions for Motor Beat

What is Motor Beat?

Motor Beat is an easy-to-use index of over 50,000 US vehicle recall information sheets (safety recalls). We also include details of consumer complaints sent to the NHTSA for each model. Additional related information will be added over time.

Where does the information come from?

The basic information is from the US Government NHTSA ODI. Motor Beat presents the information in a different way to their web site, but the information is as far as possible unchanged.

This information was last updated on Oct 8th, 2009. We have tried to make it as accurate and useful as possible, but can take no responsibility for its use, misuse, or accuracy. We have not verified this information, and cannot guarantee that it is complete or up-to-date.

Why is it all in capitals?

The capital letters and the lack of spaces between some words come from the original data. It isn't possible to correct this, as corrections would be overwritten when we update the data. All dates are in the format year, month, day.

Can you tell me more about a recall?

Sorry, no, we know nothing at all about any of the recalls, other than what is published here. The NTHSA ODI (link above) may have more information, some of which they charge for. The best source for more information is the manufacturer. We don't have any way to contact manufacturers other than what is here.

How can I contact you?

If you'd like to write to us, please use the contact form. We can't answer any questions about recalls (nor cars in general), but we'd love to hear what you think of the site, and suggestions for improvements. Please don't bother trying to sell us anything, we have zero tolerance for spam.
